Onboard the legal charity and its authorised representatives
A registered charity should ensure that its platform profile, bank account and public registration details refer to the same legal organisation. Confirm who can create appeals, edit payment instructions and access donor records. Campaign language must reflect the charity's authorised purposes and the restrictions attached to donations. Registration is a useful identity check, but it does not establish that every proposed fundraising method, tax claim or overseas distribution is permitted.
Reconcile platform income with the charity’s records
Compare settlement reports with gross donations, processing costs, refunds and any relevant tax-recovery amounts. Fundraising staff should be able to distinguish restricted appeals from general funds and explain how each is spent. Review data access and donor consent when connecting campaign tools to internal systems. A contract with the platform should also clarify account closure, unresolved disputes and access to historical records after a campaign or the commercial relationship ends.
