Examine the business activity and the funding contract

Sharia analysis asks both what a project does and how contributors fund it. Screening may consider prohibited business activities, interest-bearing arrangements and the rights created by a sale, lease or partnership. Islamic crowdfunding also needs clear agreement about fees, allocation of losses and handling of late payment. A permissible business purpose cannot automatically correct an unsuitable financing contract.

Follow compliance after the campaign closes

A project may change its borrowing, suppliers or revenue sources after receiving money. Ask who monitors those changes, how exceptions are reported and what corrective action is required. Donation campaigns need a separate assessment of restricted uses, including zakat eligibility. Keep certificates, contractual explanations and ongoing reporting together so that the compliance claim can be examined beyond launch day.
