A Turkish participation bank and an equity portal have different roles
Türkiye’s Capital Markets Board publishes information on crowdfunding platforms, while Kuveyt Türk offers participation-banking services. A business selling shares through a portal creates ownership and governance questions beyond the repayment terms of bank finance. Islamic screening must consider the company’s activity, balance sheet and investment contract. The presence of a participation-finance sector does not mean every Turkish crowdfunding offer has undergone Sharia review.
Assess lira cash flows before projecting investor distributions
A Turkish venture may earn revenue in lira while presenting its campaign to supporters abroad. Explain the currency of subscriptions, operating expenses and eventual distributions instead of promising a fixed foreign-currency outcome. Founders should also state how later investment rounds could dilute ownership. Donation campaigns require a different account of beneficiary selection and reporting, with no suggestion that charitable contributors acquire a claim on business earnings.
