Translate the offer into ownership and cash flows

Financial literacy starts with explaining what you receive for your contribution. Shares may bring voting rights and uncertain dividends; a financing contract may specify payments; a donation does not promise a financial return. Write down where money goes, how income could arise and which expenses come first. If those points remain unclear, the projected percentage return is premature.

Test how the investment behaves under stress

Consider delayed sales, customer default, empty properties and a failed attempt to exit. Compare the resulting loss with money you need for ordinary commitments. Diversification changes concentration, but it cannot eliminate business risk. Read provider examples critically and distinguish forecasts from obligations, while recognising that a contractually due payment can still go unpaid when the counterparty fails.
